The Red Boat, Vintage Swedish Woodblock Print, Framed

A striking Swedish hand-pulled woodblock print depicting a traditional boat against a simple coastal landscape. Printed in a beautiful palette of muted blue-grey, olive green, mustard yellow, earthy red and black, with subtle variations in tone and the characteristic texture of the woodblock printing, the image has a wonderfully graphic, slightly folk-art quality.

The print remains in its original wooden frame, which has developed a lovely natural patina over time. There is some very minor wear in places, along with a handful of very subtle translucent surface marks, only noticeable on closer inspection, which sit naturally within the aged, tactile character of the original print. There is also a subtle raised area to the paper, adding to the tactile quality and handmade character of the original hand-pulled print. It has been freshly fitted with a new cream mount, which complements the colours of the print beautifully, and a new string has been added to the reverse ready for hanging.

A lovely piece of Scandinavian graphic art with a quiet, understated quality and a distinctive palette that would sit beautifully in both traditional and contemporary spaces.
